NOTD: I'm CONQUISTADORABLE !

Guess who finally changed their nail colour?! It was a much needed change, I had Otherwise Engaged  by O.P.I. on for the longest time and I wanted something new! My nail colour choices may seem a little bland, since I mostly go for dark rich hues ... I don't experiement much. Then I thought, well why not welcome spring with a bright cherry red? This is my first and only bright red colour (applause please, LOL!), how do you
think it looks? I'm wearing Conquistadorable Color by O.P.I and it actually looks a lot more red in person (the camera washes it out) but its gorgeous! It took sometime for it to grow on me, but I can't stop staring at my nails! I'm actually looking to add a darker maroon-ish red polish to my collection preferably by O.P.I , any suggestions?

> Here are others by O.P.I that you might like: Siberian Nights , Light My Sapphire , Ski Teal We Drop.

What is your fave polish?

What I'm wearing: Ski Teal We Drop

I decided that it was time for Light My Sapphire (O.P.I) to come off! (Don't worry I'll bring it out another day!) I was finally ready for something with more color, something brighter...

So I picked up Ski Teal We Drop by O.P.I and I'm loving it so far! I absolutely LOVE anything Teal, it has to be my favourite color.

Ski Teal We Drop is a beautiful blue-ish green-ish shade almost like a sea green but NOT completely...but I love it! I think it is still appropriate for winter since its not too bright.

Along side the usual (O.P.I Chip Skip & Base coat) I applied 2-3 coats of this + 1 coat of clear top coat and ... VOILA it looks gorgeous! :)

For some reason though, in my snaps, the shade came out WAY off! Have a look, but trust me this is NOT what it looks like..it is much darker. The flash is too blame! Sorry, I couldn't get good lighting even from the window (it's so gloomy/cloudy outside!). The last photo will give you the best idea of what it's like, but trust me I'm not a light-blue-nail kinda gal.

Recently Purchased O.P.I Nail Lacquers

Hiya!
Approximately a week or so ago I found a great place to buy O.P.I nail lacquers online with minimal shipping costs (go me!).
The closest place for me to purchase O.P.I nail polishes would have to Trade Secrets at the Square One Shopping Centre (for all of you in Toronto/Canada) which is not as close as I would like. Moreover, why would I buy O.P.I's for $9.99 at Trade Secrets when they cost $5.35 CDN on Ebay?

I know what you are thinking.. "Ebay? Your joking, right?". Yes, the truth I shall tell. I bought them off of Ebay! Shipping was also cheap for Canada which was great. Not only did they have O.P.I nail lacquers, they also carried other brands such as China Glaze and some Essie. O.P.I is by far my favourite and so I only buy nail lacquers by them.

I decided to try my luck and bought 4 amazing shades.

  • O.P.I - Conquistadorable Color

  • O.P.I - Light My Sapphire (Can you tell why I bought this one? The hint is in the name!)

  • O.P.I - Ink

& I'm going back for more! I just love shopping in the comfort of my own home!

I bought them on the 21st of November, they were shipped on the 23rd and I recieved them on the 30th. Not bad eh? The nail polishes were individually wrapped in bubble wrap and came in a sealed mailing envelope. I had no issues with any damages or wrapping, the products were fine.

My next O.P.I purchases?
  1. Royal Rajah Ruby
  2. Black Cherry Chutney
  3. Plugged in Plum
  4. Romeo & Joliet
  5. Bastille My Heart
  6. Get Me To The Taj On Time
  7. Diva of Geneva
  8. My Private Jet
  9. Curry Up Don't Be Late
  10. Baby Blue
& I could probably add a few more.

Interested in purchasing from the mentioned Ebay seller? To see the seller's store click here. For the seller's profile click here. This sellers feedback score is great (I always go through the seller's feedback before I make a purchase).

If you do decide to purchase from this Ebay seller, let me know. I would love to hear your experience. What are your favourite O.P.I shades? Let me know.

What I'm wearing: Light My Sapphire

Here is the nail color of the week: O.P.I - Light My Sapphire

This really is an undescribable shade... I would say it is close to a metallic dark navy blue. I think Midnight blue would be a more appropriate name for the shade since Sapphire is a different shade of blue...

It's gorgeous and I can't get enough! & trust me, these photos do not do justice!

Your thoughts?
Have you tried this shade before?

How-to: make your nail polish last longer!

First of all, it is inevitable that your nail polish will chip, whether you like it or not. Let's be realistic here...we use our hands on a daily basis. How do you not expect your nail polish to chip?

These are some tips on how to keep your nail polish from chipping longer.

Typically, nail polish lasts approximately 1/2 weeks maximum (or less depending on the person) before it starts to chip of.

This is my nail polish routine, which also helps keep my polish from chipping and long lasting.

1) Wash my hands.

2) Clean my nails with nail polish remover, to remove and dust, dirt or the previously applied nail polish.

3) Apply a base coat. (Usually this is a clear varnish that helps you nail polish stick to your nails longer). I let that dry for a few minutes.

4) Apply nail polish as usual (2 coats should do the trick, some shades may require a 3rd coat).

5) Apply a top coat. This will help the nail polish from chipping as easily and help it stay on longer. Let that dry for a few minutes.

I conducted a mini-experiment on one hand using the top coat and the other hand without the top coat. I have to say, after less than a week the hand without the top coat has alot more chips on each finger than the hand with the top coat, which virtually had none.

The products I use are from a nail set I got as a gift from a friend. However, you can find these products at your local beauty or drugstore. OPI and Sally Hansen have great nail products.

* Also: a review to come soon on the OPI Chip Skip (Nail Lacquer Chip Preventor) which claims to keep your nail polish from chipping. I have only used this product once, and I would like to have used it a couple of times to come up with a good review. So stay tuned! *

What I'm wearing: Siberian Nights

Ahhhhh! My new favourite shade is OPI - SIBERIAN NIGHTS!

It's a gorgeous shade of plum purple (with a tint of black to it), it actually looks different in regular light, sunlight and also with camera flash.

I bought this yummy shade a few weeks ago and finally decided to give it a try.... I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I think I'm in love!

Normally I would stay away from darker shades, since I have a darker skin tone and I find that dark shades don't work for me... but this seems okay (atleast I think so).

Let me know what you think!
