Pretty things & tons of words.

01. I currently have Otherwise Engaged by O.P.I (part of the Fairytale Bride Collection) on my nails. It's a gorgeous pale pink shade with a bit of a sheen to it. Darker shades are more my type and I've been wearing them quite a bit lately; my favourites are: O.P.I's Light My Sapphire and Siberian Nights. The snap does not accurately capture the color, it seems to look like a peachy-cream but it really has a pink tone to it. If you would like to see a more accurate match, you can do so here . This shade seems more work appropriate since I work in a medical office setting; dark shades (which are my fave!) and glitter are not very office appropriate.  Also worth mentioning is the black stoned silver ring that I got for a bargain ($2.50) at Suzy Shier! It's big, chunky and a great statement piece to any outfit!

02. NYLON magazine has featured Mila Kunis (she is so gorgeous!) in the January 2011 issue. (Sorry, I'm late with posting this, I picked this up late Jan). I'm not as avid of a reader of NYLON as I am Teen Vogue or Vogue India. However, I do pick it up once in a while, or if I am particularly interested in who is featured in the issue.

03. I love filling up my vanity with fragrances, and when ever I can, I try to get a new scent. There are just SO many to choose from but Gucci Guilty is my new favourite scent! When I first saw the seductive advertisements for the fragrance, I wasn't sure about it. However, that changed when I began to see those advertisements time and time again (talk about effective advertising!). One fine day I decided that: I WANT GUCCI GUILTY! & HAD to have it! I had a hard time finding it and almost gave up looking ... I finally purchased it on my trip to the UK a few months back! Oh how I LOVE the UK! ♥
You can see the a range of magazines and books in the background of the photo; if you can't tell already, I love to read! You might have caught the FASHION 18 magazine from Fall 2005! I am quite the magazine hoarder, I keep older issues for rainy days. It's fun to look back at fashion from years ago and compare it to todays trends. Plus, there are some great articles and photos published that I like to keep on hand. You never know when you'll need some inspiration!

04. The silver studded bow head band from Costa Blanca was a steal ($3.11)! (Look at me go! I found tons of bargains this month!). I thought it was such an adorable hair piece and I can't wait to wear it out. I've always loved head bands ever since I was a young girl, (I had more headbands and hair accessories then I did clothes ahah!) instead of jewellry, hair accessories can become your statement piece. What I'm looking for next? A BIG bow hair clip! I love pairing a feminine hair accessory with an otherwise casual or masculine look; I think it looks super cute!

05. I got some goodies from Qatar (neighbouring Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, U.A.E, Iran & Iraq) from the BF (Thank you, Soh!) when he stopped over. The first snap is of what we would consider a compact mirror. If you look closely at the detail, there are camels engraved along the perimeter of mirrors. I love the finish; it seems to have a rustic/ vintage gold feel to it and it is quite heavy to hold and rather way too delicate to carry around, in my opinion, but it's a gorgeous trinket nonetheless!

06. Another souvenir from Qatar is the gold Camel with intricate detailing. (I apologize for the shobby photography, my camera didn't cooperate with me!). Did I mention that the "hump" opens?!?! Such a cute little idea for keeping bits and bobs such as little stud earrings well hidden! Also pictured is a cloth cell phone pouch from India. It is super cute and well made (I must say), it also has a shoulder strap but I don't think I'll use it ... I love souvenirs from other countries, I think it's a great way to represent memories. I always try and take something back with me from a country I've visited as a keepsake.

07. Belt from Costa Blanca and you've probably guessed it ... Yup! Another bargain ($4.99)! My camera didn't seem to pick up the gold on the buckle, it's showing silver instead. I also purchased this same belt in black and gold and it was the perfect accessory over a black top, I used it to cinch my waist. The peacock feathers (in the background) is actually a fan I got from India in summer of 2010. I LOVE anything peacock and I just had to have it!

08. These gold studs were another steal from Suzy Shier. I had seen these before, and couldn't justify buying them at full price when I already have SO much jewellry. I popped into the mall yesterday with a friend and there they were on sale ($2.50)! Very intricate faux gold studs with emerald green, sapphire blue and amethyst purple rhinestones (not real obviously), and the snaps do them no justice. I figured I could wear them to dress up an outfit for say, a night out or even wear them with cultural clothing. Indian suits are always full of colour, I'm positive I'd be able to match it with something I already have in my wardrobe!

09. That's it for the goodies. Any plans for V-day yet? No plans for me since BF is 500090878 miles away. I will be either working or doing some school work or lounging about in my comfies! One thing I love about Valentines Day is the variety chocolate and sweets that are available! YUM. However, I do think Valentines Day is a bit overrated, (I'm not hating) but I just think that we don't need a day to remind us to love one another; you should be doing that all the time, all day, everyday!

010. Sorry for the lack of PROPER posts, I seem to be slackking on life ... Hopefully I'll get back into it soon. I'm slowly making adjustments to the layout etc. of the blog, I like to change things up every once in a while.

011. Hello and welcome to all the new friends who have joined! xx.

Ramble + Goodies

I've been sick these last few days (today is one of my better days so far) and although I have not left the house once, I did continue to blog from the comfort of my bed. I haven't attended any classes for 3 days or even left the house since! I've just been stuck with the sniffles and sneezes, and this also means I've been vegging in my PJ's! I know what some of you are thinking ... "and that's a problem because?" Ahaha! I'm not complaining, I quite enjoy lounging around the house in my PJ's! Anywhoo. The door bell rings. Uh-oh. Here I am standing in my light blue and pink polka-dotted Maxi with a green Aeropostale hoodie, hair tied up in a high pony (how's that for an outfit of the day? ahha), droopy eyes and all, and I have to answer the door? (No one was home). & so I did and it was the UPS guy (is it just me or are they always grumpy?). Thank god he didn't see me because he was already at the neighbors front door. One thing I hate though, is when they leave the packages out in the open, I mean they don't take signatures for the packages when they arrive. What if someone were to take them!?!? I opened the door, looked around quickly to see if anyone was watching (me in my sad state) picked up the packages and darted back inside the house. Phewwww! That was quite a mission. Guess what came?! My Aldo goodies! I was in need of a new black handbag I have no idea what happened to the ones I had. The best part had to be the shipping, it came much earlier then expected. I purchased the items online on the 16th (Sunday) and recieved them as soon as today, since I had anticipated them to be in next week! I was super excited to get these in, they just added a little sparkle to my day.

Bag/ KHANO
$29.99
I love this bag! I did, however, anticipate that it would be much bigger in person since it looks quite small, but I'll live. It is sturdy and I love the shape and style. I am a little ticked off that the shoulder belt was broken. I don't think i'd wear it with the shoulder belt anyway but still, you expect to get a complete product when you spend money. Other than that I love it! The bag is quite simple, nothing immensely fancy but it's just perfect. I was thinking of wearing both of these pieces together possibly.

Shoes/ GUBALA
$39.98
These shoes were an impluse buy. I really only needed the bag but I couldn't resist these intricate flats! These are either a hit or miss. Hate it or love it. Some of y'all will hate them and others will love them. I am a huge flats girl, I love the comfort and simplicity of flats compared to heels. When I saw these it was like instant love and I knew I had to have them! They are the perfect simple flat with hint of edge to them. I love the buckle detailing and the zippered back. I've tried them on already and they are quite comfortable to say the least. They are definately NOT appropriate for the weather right now but I will save them for spring and summer! I can't wait to wear them out.

Best Dressed: Golden Globe Awards 2011

Although I didn't get a chance to watch the Golden Globes this year, I did take a peak at the stunning outfits. Here I have chosen my absolute favourite, Angelina Jolie. Aside from the fact that I am a fan; I can honestly say that this is Angelina's best look by far! She looked so stunning in her sparkling emerald green gown by Versace. I love the cut of the dress and the fit is absolutely perfect! The cinched waist hits Jolie perfectly and gives the gown the perfect feminine touch. What I love about the dress is the simplicity. This just goes to show that awkward shapes and designs are not always necessary to make a statement; simplicity is what it's all about!
What was your fave Golden Globes outfit?

Teen Vogue/ Feb. 2011 : Lucy Hale

twenty2.onsugar.com

I am an avid TEEN VOGUE reader starting from October 2005 when I purchased my first issue, I have been addicted since! I wait and wait (impatiently at that) for the next issue to come out (the other night I re-read all the issues I had! Talk about no life..). I love the fashion and articles that are featured in TEEN VOGUE, and all though I don't have the guts to wear more then half of what I see, I am drawn to the well-put-together outfits and makeup.
Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars graces the cover of the February 2011 issue of TEEN VOGUE! I just got my hands on the edition today; it's a little thin, but I love this issue so far! The younger Kardashian sisters (Kylie & Kendall) are also featured, along with Christine Staub (Daughter of Danielle Staub of Real Housewives of New Jersey). Talk about reality TV stars galore! Hey! Did I mention... prominent (& young!) fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson is also featured (with Gwen Stefani)!?!? This is an amazing issue; the fashion is fabulous, and I can't get enough!

Any TEEN VOGUE readers out there? Anybody?

If you got it, use it!

weheartit.com
I attempted to opened the drawer of my organizer and it wouldn't budge. I'll tell you why...it was brimming to the top with various beauty products! AAAHHHH. Everything from moisturizers, and powders to body sprays and lotions. I then thought to myself, this needs to end, and NOW. "Project 10 Pan" came to mind at this point. If you don't know what "Project 10 Pan" is here is the concept as derived from excellentmakeup.com: "Using up or hitting the pan of 10 makeup items to be eligible to buy 1 new makeup item. Makeup item is not limited to eyeshadow pan/pot but everything from face and liner to lip products with the exception of skin care." Various Youtube guru's have been doing this for a while now, and I think it's high time I too, start! My problem isn't with makeup, I don't have as much makeup as I do "other" beauty products. My goal? - To use up the products I have before purchasing anything new. I have more moisturizers and lotions then I need; I seem to purchase anything that smells good or looks good and then it just sits unused in that drawer for ages!

I don't want to just do this with beauty products but anything and everything I own. I spend way too much money on products, clothing, and knick knacks. By using what I have already, I can save money and use and develop self-control for myself to not have to buy things all the time.

Bon Annee!

Welcome twenty-eleven! I hope you all enjoyed your New Years celebrations that took place this past weekend...the holidays are almost over; time to get back into the regular routine! Anyway, it's a New Year; a fresh start and another chance to do what I didn't do last year! I think it is important for us to reflect on the up's and down's of the past year, take it as an experience to learn from and move on...free your mind and welcome new inhibitions and positive energy.

I want to thank you all for supporting me/my blog these last few months, I REALLY appreciate it and hope you will continue to support me in the future! I hope to continue to what I started this blog for, with reviews and other items that may interest you. I love to hear feedback from you, so please feel free to leave me a comment or send me an email.
Again, this is a fresh start for us all... let's make this year even better then the last!
Well, it's time for me to get on with my TO DO list for this year, what's on yours?

More later.

Never Again.

Hi Lovelies! Just a short post for today(I had such a busy day, and this is the first time at 1:30 am, that I have a chance to be online!), I want to know what your absolute WORST beauty related purchase EVER was and why! Tell me about a product(s) that you would never purchase again, be it a mascara or make up remover, I WANT TO KNOW!  If you hate it, tell me why and if you have mixed feelings, also tell me why.

This is a toughie, I know! There are so many products I have vowed to never buy again. One of those being the Fredderic Fekkai Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner. I ranted about that product here.  Another would have to be Maybelline mascara's period. All of them, in my opinion, are complete BS(excuse my language). I have never had a good experience with Maybelline mascara's...and they say "maybe its her, maybe its Maybelline" ... your right, maybe it is Maybelline's problem, not mine. LOL. (I have nothing against the company just some of they're products!)

Leave a comment below or create a blog post and link me back, I would love to hear what your worst's were. I tag you all! So, what was your NEVER AGAIN purchase(s)?

Pretty. Little. Liars.

Who is watching Pretty Little Liars?! I have been wanting to watch this show for sometime now, but haven't gotten into it! The show is based of off the novels by Sara Shepard; so I've been thinking that I may start to read the novels before I start watching the show? Has anyone read the books? ANYWAY, the new season premieres Monday! Can't wait! I heard good things about it!

What are you watching? Let me know!

However, I can tell you that my Christmas was great since I went to a wedding! Here are some snaps from the weekend , I also provided that eye looks I created for each day (Sorry for the quality on some of the photos). Enjoy!

Yeah, that's my name, don't wear it out.

Hiya Dolls!

I have been looking for a name necklace since like FOREVER! I can't even explain to you how long it's been since I started looking. I have found many places that make these necklaces or are willing to make these necklaces but I have seen nothing as elegant as April Kawaoka's...and I mean it. She designs, makes and sells many jewelry items on her Etsy shop (which at this point I am eyeing approximately 10 items, ahah!) mostly in Sterling Silver. Did I mention she handmakes her items? See her Etsy shop here and have a look around. I found April's shop through a fellow blogger, Jess.

To see the Etsy listing of the necklace she made me, check it out here.
For details see the Etsy listing of the name necklace here .

I was more than happy to recieve my necklace in the post today, however, since I recieved it as I was running to work I didn't actually get a chance to open it at that moment. I took the package with me to work, and opened it (while no one was looking..shhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone! LOL). I just couldn't contain myself! The packaging itself was gorgeous; the necklace came in a sturdy box with some foam on which the necklace rested on, and April also included a plastic baggie to store the necklace in when not worn (how thoughtful!).

Necklace packaging, and handwritten note

The deets:
  • The base price for the necklace is $50 + $10 for every letter.  - It is a little pricey but the quality honestly makes up for it + it's handmade!
  • The length of the chain is 16" (can be longer if requested).

April is an amazing seller! She was extremely patient with me (Thank you April!) and she communicated with me every step of the way. One thing in particular that really stood out for me was how April made a sketch so that I could visualize what the end result would look like. I loved this about her! I can't tell you how many shops I have gone to looking for reassurance of what the end result of my name necklace would look like, and all I got was a lot of: "You just have to trust us" or "It will look "something" like this.." but that was not enough.... She was great to work with and I couldn't be happier that I chose her to create a necklace for me. Shipping was great as well, I got my item in 5 days in perfect condition!

Necklace without flash

Necklace with flash

I absolutely LOVE my necklace, it is so precious and I want to wear it all the time!

Overall:
  • Great shop
  • Great product
  • Great seller

Necklace on, worn by myself

I will most definately be purchasing more from April in the near future!

Do you have a name necklace?  What do you look for when buy jewelry online?  Let me know what you think!

My love/hate relationship with the winter holidays..

When I think of December, I think of holidays. That makes me think of great deals before Christmas and after Christmas. It also makes me think of the New Year, which makes me reflect on this year that is just about to pass... I think of warm hot chocolate and cookies as well as snow lightly falling outside my window. I think of giving. I think of helping someone out or just giving someone something as simple as a heartwarming smile.  Sounds sweet doesn't it?

Wellllll, not so much: I love the holidays but at the same time I hate the holidays. See my list of reasons below.

I love the christmas holidays because:
  1. Of the atmosphere of the holiday season. Everything from the decorations in the malls and shopping centres to the holiday cheer.
  2. This is the time to relax and enjoy the company of family & friends.
  3. You can great shopping deals!
  4. Winter is here; out come the cozy parkas, hats, mittens and scarves!
  5. I love winter fashion (but hate the snow!).
  6. Might tie into the first point but .. I love that it is the time of GIVING!

Eaton Centre, Toronto - Source: travel.webshots.com

What I hate about the christmas holidays:
  1. That I feel like I am compelled to buy items that I don't even need because of the amazing sales (BAHAH!).
  2. I want to buy EVERYTHING that is on sale and I can't because I am not a millionaire.
  3. The snow.
  4. Angry and impatient people.
  5. That the year is ending...
  6. I become so lazy after all the time I have off that it is hard to get back into the swing of things.
  7. Lineups everywhere!
  8. The cold weather that comes with it... CANADA is like the North Pole, mind you.
  9. Did I mention.. snow?

Source: deptofnance.blogspot.com/
So that is my love/hate relationship with the winter/christmas holidays. I love it, yet I hate it..what can I say? I can be hard to please sometime! (I'm a Fall baby, what do you expect?! LOL).

What do you LOVE or HATE about the holidays? Have you done your Christmas shopping? Or are you a "last minute shopper" ?

Happy Holidays Everyone!

December 17, 2010

I am on winter break + I am a winner!

Hi everyone!

First off I would like to mention that:

I am one of the 3 winners of miss.erica's "Love Yourself Giveaway"! I never win anything (I had to do a double take of my name because I thought it was someone else with the same name! ahhah!), and I entered the contest with no intention of winning, I just wanted to submit an answer, and what do you know...I became a winner! I recieved my goodies earlier this week...It was really nice of her to this giveaway (thank you Erica!).

To be entered all you had to do is tell Erica one thing you love about yourself along with your details, it was that easy... I loved the idea of this giveaway because its the first of its kind (that I have seen) and I just thought it was nice since it wasn't specifically a beauty giveaway; it was more personal and a way for you to reflect on yourself ...

You can see miss.erica's giveaway results here. She is so sweet (and she's Canadian!), do check out her blog sometime!

This just goes to show: try your luck, you never know! & I mean that, not just in giveaways or contest but in life too.

--> Take chances! ..and who knows, it might be the best decision you've ever made!

P.S. - I am in NO way bragging about my win, I just wanted to encourage you to take chances! :)

Secondly, I am officially on my winterbreak! If you follow my personal blog you might have heard already that I finished my last exam yesterday morning! I am so thrilled! I will be off for approximately 3 weeks of which I will be very busy working and with holiday parties + winter weddings! Hopefully I can get some more reviews in during this time!

If there is anything in particular you would like me to review, drop me a comment below and I will definately respond with an answer!

Let the holidays begin! :)

Indian Fashion: Karishma & Kareen Kapoor

I came across this gorgeous photo of the Kapoor sisters in traditional but modern Indian clothing.

Source: Google Images

I decided to change up the way fashion is done on blogs and added a little cultural flavour to it! Let me know what you think. I may continue to do this in the future.

November 22, 2010

...The British are coming!

Just kidding! I thought that title was very appropriate for the following picture.. (that was suppose to be a joke, I love the Brits!). Check out this image I got off of someone's facebook..

My first initial thought after seeing this photo was: where did the Rickshaw come from?

For those of you who don't know, Auto Rickshaws are a very common mode of transportation in India. These 3 wheelered buggies are used by more than half of the countrys' population!

Source: Facebook

This image is quite lovely, it looks like a piece of art. I especially love the contrast between the different colors. From the image it looks like a store front window. Let me know if you see this around town. Notice the British flags all around the Rickshaw, these blue people must've wanted everyone to know where they come from...hahah!

Imagine we were that shade of blue with bright orange hair? What shade of lipstick would you choose to wear if your skin was that blue? LOL.

Just another random post of the day ... sometimes we need a little dose of 'change' in our routine.
